Google offered free photo storage to many for a number of years, but a change happened on 1 June 2021, where new photos uploaded in "High Quality" will count against your Google account storage. Google Photos storage allowance: What's changing? Library contains a range of features including albums you may have made, as well as some Google Photos tools - like the bin, achived images and utilities, which is where Google Photos suggests rotations, archive suggestions and where you can create movies and collages. This makes it easy to find images shared with you. Sharing covers all the photos or galleries you might have shared with someone else - including the conversations you might be having related to those images. If you want to show people photos of your cat, you'll find a section here for your cat - and all these are created using Google AI. ![]() Search provides search as the name suggests, but also groups your Google Photos based around people, pets, activities, places, events and a whole lot more. Across the top of the page is a carousel of highlights, with recent highlights and yearly jumps back in time. The Photos tab is essentially a list/grid of all your images and videos in Google Photos and the default view when you open the app. ![]() In the app you'll see a menu bar with three main tabs: Photos, Search, Sharing and Library. There are some differences between Google Photos on Pixel devices and on some other Android phones. Note: This guide is primarily about Google Photos for iOS and Android devices, unless otherwise noted. Google Assistant tips and tricks: Master your Android assistant. To help you navigate Google Photos, we've rounded up a selection of tips and tricks that'll maximise your experience and essentially make you a Google Photos pro. ![]() Google Will Launch Chrome Web Store and Chrome OS. It's remarkable how many things they got wrong in something so simple. There's also the issue of using Flash when some networks block flash content, someone mentioned the default zoom displays small pictures fuzzy, there's no image file name, etc, etc. ![]() Third, you can't save the image or get a direct URL for it, the photos I have are to share with people and friends, I'd like them to be able to save them as they see fit.įourth, the + and - buttons on the top right are redundant and don't seem to work well, so I have no idea what are they doing there except confusing people.įifth (?!), the zoom only goes up to 100%, many times is desirable to zoom in on an image to more than 100% but sorry, can't do. Second, there's no loading indication, so you have no idea how long you have to wait for the image to load, can be 5 seconds, can be 5 minutes, no idea. This change is horrible from a user's point of view.įirst, once you zoom in there are no options of going to the next, previous or any other image, so you have to close the pop up (why Google seems to be infatuated with pop-ups as of late I can't understand), go to the next photo, open the pop-up zoom and wait for it to load the image. I'm beginning to think that Google's UI designers are double agents intent in torpedoing the company.
